COVID-19 Guidance for Community Museums

What’s on your mind about reopening your public spaces and the impact of COVID-19?

In light of the State Government’s announcement of a road map for easing restrictions, and the suggestion that galleries and museums can reopen from the 1 June 2020, we are currently developing resources and guidance to assist community museums in planning for eventual re-opening. We are also working with the South Australian Statewide History Network to determine the best ways to welcome your communities back while also connecting online as we navigate a post-isolation COVID-19 world.

We are currently developing a range of resources. This page will be updated as they are finalised.

FAQs – Beginning to answer your questions

We would love to hear what questions and concerns you have about COVID-19 and re-opening your museums and centres via the below webform. We will use your questions and concerns to develop a comprehensive FAQ on this site as well as to prioritise resources and other support services for the South Australian History Network.

For our largely older and more vulnerable community history demographic health and safety should always come first. We look forward to assisting you to re-open at a time and in the way that’s right for you!

Please check back on this page regularly and follow us on Facebook for updates and new resources.

About the South Australian Statewide History Network

The South Australian History Network encompasses over 300 largely community-run history organisations around the state including museums, historical societies, interpretive centres, as well as libraries and archives of a local region, business, school or service organisation.

The History Trust of South Australia administers grant funds and provides advice and practical skills training in history, museums and collections practices to this network of historical organisations, community museums and history practitioners. We remain actively engaged with this community in collecting, preserving and sharing South Australia’s rich and diverse history.
