SESSION 11

‘Looking Forward to Looking Back: reflections of a culture broker’ presented by Greg Mackie OAM, History Trust of South Australia

Tickets

Before his near decade as CEO, while heading up Arts SA in the Rann era, Greg long hankered to see History SA reclaim its true name – the History Trust of South Australia – and in 2016 – he got his way. As an independent bookseller from the mid 80s, into the 90s, he led Adelaide Writers’ Week into a golden era, and in 1999, inaugurated the Adelaide Festival of Ideas.

Respected across the political spectrum, Greg Mackie has been a trusted keeper of secrets – and ‘knows where the bodies are buried’. In this, his final public address as the History Trust’s CEO, join Greg for a saunter down the memory lanes, boulevards – the odd ‘dead ends’ of unfinished business from 40 years as a culture broker in South Australia.

Presentation time: Wednesday, 28 May 2025, 7:15 pm
Presentation duration: 40-45 minutes
