The House of History – Session 2 – Skye Krichauff

SESSION 2

“Oral histories and ‘The South Australian Frontier and its Legacies’ project” presented by Skye Krichauff, University of Adelaide

Tickets

‘The South Australian Frontier and its Legacies’ website launched in Adelaide at the beginning of National Reconciliation Week 2024. The website is the outcome of a project funded by the Australian Research Council that maps conflict between European settlers and Aboriginal people during the colonial era. The project team, based at the University of Adelaide, captured a wide range of violent encounters. Using the interactive StoryMap, viewers can access digital copies of extensive archival sources. They can also listen to Aboriginal and settler oral history recordings. In this presentation, Skye Krichauff (who worked on the project as project manager, archival researcher and oral historian) will use the website to demonstrate some of the website’s features. In particular, she will demonstrate how the oral histories enrich research findings and provide current audiences with a powerful reminder of the proximity of the colonial past.

Presentation time: Wednesday, 7 May 2025, 7:15 pm
Presentation duration: 40-45 minutes

Please note: tickets include x2 presentations by Skye Krichauff and Natalie Harkin.
