Museums and Collections (MaC) is the History Trust of South Australia’s development and funding program for South Australian community organisations that manage historical collections and operate museums or work in community history. Its purpose is to advance the contemporary role and function of community history organisations and recognise and support their development, sustainability and community impacts. MaC operates within the broad framework of national standards.
MaC provides leadership and promotes collaboration in the collection, development, preservation and sharing of a significant statewide history collection. Through advice, assistance and grant funding MaC helps raise the profile of history and collections and encourages best practice as communities build their physical and digital footprints in these areas.
Involvement in MaC establishes purposeful connection between the History Trust and community organisations around our shared interest in history, museums and collections. The program incorporates History Trust initiated projects and skills development activities, and a significant annual grant fund that MaC members can access for a wide variety of projects. Museum Accreditation is also run under the banner of MaC.
